Mitred U Base Recycled Messmate Timber Table
This simple Mitre joined U Base design is extremely comfortable and practical to sit around. The timber has been salvaged from a demolished brick works. Having air dried for many years in situ the timber is structurally ideal for furniture making.

Type of Timber:
35mm Solid Recycled Messmate timber.
Type of Joinery:
Each board used to form the tabletop has been tenoned using a flexible, durable glue. The base has been constructed using floating Mortice & Tenons.
Finish/Colour:
3 x coats clear lacquer. Hand buffered wax.
Notes: The table top has been constructed using wide boards of timber. Any gum pockets or veins have been hand filled using a clear resin.

Read moreThe magnificent timber used to create this table was retrieved from an extremely old Elm tree felled at Croydon High School in Victoria. The 2 45mm thick pieces used in this table top have been book matched or “butterflied” together using floating tenons. The base of this table is a U based steel design that has been powder coated black. The star of this table is obviously the exquisite top which vividly shares the tree’s life!
