Dining Tables

This simple, yet cleverly designed table will seat 8 people. The solid timber legs have been tapered and carefully splayed on a 17deg angle making it very comfortable to sit at. The table top is 30 – 32mm thick and each piece of timber comprising the top has been meticulously hand chosen. The timber rails attaching the legs have been fully half housed ensuring optimal strength.

This super practical circular dining table has been designed for optimal seating comfort and the obvious social benefits of being seated around a table. Very traditional in style, this welcoming table has been made using Imported FSC Certified American Oak timber. An intricate parquetry top adds to the grandeur of this table. The base has been constructed using solid sections of American Oak, hand cut on a bandsaw. Christian’s own design. This base design allows for a number of round table top dimensions.
This table is hand signed and dated by Christian.

Notes: Many hours go into milling and cutting the components for the parquetry top. Each piece is carefully selected ensuring the timber characteristics flow evenly across the table surface.

Named after the table’s designer and subsequent new owner, this extraordinary, 4-metre-long table showcases the magnificence of American Walnut timber combined with exemplary craftsmanship. Commissioned for a large family home in Ivanhoe, this custom-built table not only complements the majestic style of their home but also fulfills its requirement – hosting large family gatherings! The inset pedestal base is practical, providing comfort for diners. One of Christian Cole Furniture’s favourite projects this year!

Mortise and tenon joints, half housed joints, mitered joints, floating panels, and vacuum-pressed veneers 5mm thick.

The timber has been retrieved from the Cann River region on the Victorian and New South Wales boarder and is extremely old. Air dried in an old shed for many years this timber is extremely rare because of the abundance of “fiddle back” feature.
Certainly a piece for a true timber lover/or and collector!

Each board used to form the tabletop has been tenoned using a flexible, durable glue.

Notes: The table top has been constructed using only two pieces of timber. That is 2 x single slabs have been joined together creating a book matched effect.
